Inspired heavily by Happily ever after? by GuiltyMender Ragnarok is won by humanity and now they want the ones who have perished to come back, especially certain somebodies. The wish the warriors choose, though, will shock Valhalla and a certain sea god. If humanity were to win (as was the case), the champions would collectively receive one wish that would be granted by the fates. Though there was one condition to this victory, as stated in the rule book. Humanity has won: they will continue on for the next thousand years. But, in the end, Brunhilde's efforts were not put to waste. Spectators from both sides looked on with belated breaths as they all watched. The end of Ragnarok had finally come as the last fight over the fate of humanity had come to a close. In the Prose Edda and in a single poem in the Poetic Edda, the event is referred to as Ragnarök or Ragnarøkkr (Old Norse for '"Fate of the Gods" and "Twilight of the Gods," respectively'), a usage popularised by 19th-century composer Richard Wagner with the title of the last of his Der Ring des Nibelungen operas, Götterdämmerung (1876), which is "Twilight of the Gods" in German." Ragnarök is an important event in Norse mythology and has been the subject of scholarly discourse and theory in the history of Germanic studies. The event is attested primarily in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. After these events, the world will resurface anew and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors. "In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of events, including a great battle, foretold to lead to the death of a number of great figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki), natural disasters and the submersion of the world in water. I'm sure by the stories conclusion Hermes will have his moment.Ĭlosest theory I've got is Ragnarok is a suicide-pact of Odin, meaning that he knows he's going to die in the end, but for some reason that's part of his plan too. Hermes is definitely clever enough to figure out if anythings wrong, and he's smart enough to wait and see how things play out. But a lone valkyrie puts forward a suggestion to let the gods and humanity fight one last battle, as a last hope for humanity's continued survival. The story begins when the gods call a convention to decide whether to let humanity live or die, and settle on destroying humanity.
